Team Taurus’ Jessie Harrison entered the 2022 USPSA Racegun Nationals having gone 2 for 2 in National or higher-level tournaments this year. First, a commanding win at the World Speed Shooting Championships. She followed that a few months later with a dominating win at the IPSC Pan-American Championship. Carrying that momentum through the Racegun Nationals would be challenging, as the best of the best turn up for USPSA Nationals.
That was on display at the 2022 Racegun Nationals where Jessie faced a difficult, back and forth battle against Team Colt shooter Justine Williams. The pair of champion shooters traded stage wins back and forth over three days of shooting. After Day 1, Jessie held a strong lead, but on Day 2, Justine battled back to within a few points.
Entering Day 3, the competition for the Ladies Division Championship could have gone either way. Jessie held a slight lead over Justine, and both women have been in close matches before. However, Jessie’s experience prevailed. She shot a collected, controlled match avoiding mistakes. This put the pressure on Justine, who wasn’t up to the task this year. A disastrous meltdown on stage 20 put the trophy out of reach for the Colt shooter. Jessie’s strategy proved correct, and she won yet another National Championship.
The last match of the season is coming up soon, and it’s the biggest one. The IPSC World Shoot in Thailand will round out the calendar for Team Taurus. With Jessie coming off a National Championship, will she be able to take down the title against the best the world has to offer? You’ll have to wait until November to find out.
